More impressive than the 1098! and that's a bold statement!!!!
With even more inovation than the 1098 the new middleweight from Italy is even more of a leap forward in design and performance.
The bits you want to know...
168 Kgs, that is 20 Kilograms lighter than the 749
5 kgs lighter than the 1098
134 bhp, that is 30% more than the 749
Higher power to weight ratio than the 999 Superbike
Totally new engine cases that are vacume die-cast
Same chassis size and geometry as the 1098
Same advanced swing arm as the 1098
New wet clutch, quiet, smooth and much lighter
Available in pearlescent white or Ducati Red
998 size rear spindal, so your 748>998 paddock stand will fit
Brembo radial calipers from 999R (upgradeable to monobloc 1098 calipers)
The highly advanced 848 engine uses an improved method of engine case production in which cases are vacuum die-cast formed. While providing significant weight savings of more than 3 kg (6.5 lbs), this method also ensures consistent wall thickness and increased strength. Further refinements include a sophisticated wet clutch that offers 1 kg (2.2 lbs) less weight, a much higher service life, improved clutch feel and quiet operation.
Our thoughts... by Wilf "Ducati have really moved things forward in the middleweight class now! a real superbike in its own right. The specification is impresive, but to put things in context, we spend weeks of time and £1000's of pounds trying to get our 748RS race bike as light as this and with as much power, now Ducati have done it out of the box with lights and a pillion seat! the 749 was fantastic but with 30% more power and 20 kgs less weight, this road dominating bike will be the most agile yet. Test one today!"
